Audits (e.g., brand audits, standards checks, safety audits, kitchen audits) can be fully digitised using Telsen’s scoring tools.
Audits in Telsen work best when you build them as scored workflows. This allows you to rate each question, track site performance, and compare results over time.
Follow the steps below to set up a digital audit workflow.
Step 1: Create a new workflow
Go to Workflows in the left-hand menu
Select Manage Workflows
Click Create Workflow
Choose Custom Workflow
Give your audit a clear name, e.g. Brand Standards Audit or Quarterly Operations Audit.
Step 2: Add your audit questions
For each audit question:
Create a new question in the workflow
Drag in the Single Select (Scored) answer type
Add your options along with their weighted scores
Example:
Yes = 2 points
Partially = 1 point
No = 0 points
This allows Telsen to automatically calculate performance scores during the audit.
Repeat this for each question until your full audit is built.
Step 3: Schedule the audit
We recommend that Audits should be scheduled as Ad Hoc workflows.
Why?
Ad hoc audits can be completed whenever you need them
They don’t repeat automatically
Perfect for monthly, quarterly, or spot-check assessments
How to schedule:
Click Schedule Workflow
Select Ad Hoc
Assign the workflow only to yourself (or designated auditors), not the entire team
Assign it to all relevant Sites you plan to audit
This gives the auditor access to complete the audit at any time on any Site.
Step 4: Complete an audit
Once scheduled, the auditor can:
Open the Telsen mobile or desktop app
If the audit has been scheduled, they will see this under the Complete Workflows tab.
If it is adhoc, ensure you are on the correct site and Add Task
Select the Audit for that day
Work through each scored section
Upload photos and notes where required
Submit when complete
Scores calculate automatically, creating a consistent benchmark across Sites.
Step 5: Review audit results
Completed audits appear in:
Reports
Go to the Site Report
Scroll down to the Audit completed at the time
Here you can view:
Total score
Score by section
Evidence uploaded
Auditor notes
Performance changes over time
Comparisons between Sites
This makes Telsen ideal for tracking standards and identifying improvement opportunities.
6. Best practices for digital audits
To get the most out of your audits:
✔ Use clear, objective scoring
Avoid subjective wording. Use predefined scales like:
Yes / No
Meets Standard / Needs Improvement
0 / 1 / 2 points
✔ Add evidence requirements
Photos and notes strengthen the validity of audit findings.
✔ Keep sections consistent
Use the same structure across all Sites for fair comparisons.
✔ Review quarterly
Regular reviews help measure improvement and identify training needs.
Next steps
You’ve now learned how to:
✔ Build workflows
✔ Schedule and assign them
✔ Edit and manage existing workflows
✔ Conduct audits
✔ Analyse and export results
