When you receive new sensors for your site, you’ll need to activate them and place them correctly in your appliances. Follow the steps below to ensure the sensor comes online and begins reporting temperature data.

1) Check What You Received

In your delivery, you will receive:

  • Your new Telsen sensor(s)

  • Sticky mounting pads

2) Confirm the Sensor Appears in Telsen

  1. Log in to Telsen on desktop.

  2. Go to Devices → Sensors.

  3. Locate the new sensor in the list - ensure you are on the correct site

3) Turn Off Service Mode (If Needed)

If the sensor is showing as Service Mode:

  1. Open the sensor using the Configuration button

  2. Switch Service Mode → OFF.

  3. Wait a few minutes for the sensor to reconnect.

Service Mode prevents alerts and reporting, so if typically switched off before installation.

4)  Ensure the Sensor Is Online (Green)

In the Devices list:

  • Green = online and reporting

  • Amber = recently offline or within a delay window

  • Red = offline (no recent transmissions)

If the sensor is RED:

Try the following:

Once the sensor turns green, it’s ready to install.

5) Stick Sensor in the Appliance

Once online:

  1. Attach the sticky pad to the back of the sensor.

  2. Press the sensor firmly onto the surface.

Best placement:

  • Middle or upper shelf, towards the back

  • Away from fans or vents

  • Not on removable baskets or doors

  • Avoid areas that collect condensation

This ensures accurate and stable temperature readings.

6) Wait for Readings to Appear

Within 10–15 minutes:

  • Temperatures will populate in the sensor graph

  • The sensor will appear in Alerts (if thresholds are configured)

  • The site dashboard will update automatically

Your sensor is now fully installed and active.
