Test your Telsen Setup

Once you’ve added your sites, users, workflows, and sensors, it’s important to run a quick system check to ensure everything is working as expected. Testing your setup helps you confirm that:

• Sensors are reporting correctly

• Alerts are triggering as intended

• Workflows appear for the correct sites and users

• Mobile access is set up properly

• Your reporting dashboard is accurate

This guide walks you through a simple checklist to validate your full Telsen setup before launching with your team.

1) Confirm Sensors & Gateways Are Online

Check Device Status

1. Log in to Telsen on desktop.

2. Go to Devices 

3. Ensure all sensors show green (online).

What to look for

• Temperature readings updating every 10 minutes

• No unexpected transmission gaps

Optional Test

Open a fridge door for a few minutes to confirm the graph updates and the Amber warning triggers after crossing the 

2) Test Your Alert Configuration

1. Go to Manage Alerts.

2. Check that each sensor is assigned to the correct alert rules.

3. Verify users are assigned at the correct sites.

Trigger a Live Test (Optional)

If appropriate, create a controlled test:

• Temporarily raise the threshold on a non-critical sensor 

• Wait for the sensor to go Amber → Red

• Confirm users receive alerts on email, or push notifications

Check Corrective Actions

• Respond to an alert by logging a corrective action

• Watch for the alert returning to green once temperature normalises

• Check the report 

This ensures both alerts and action logging work as expected.

3) Check Workflows on Mobile

Ask a team member (or yourself) to log in on the mobile app.

Scheduled Workflows

• Confirm today’s scheduled workflows appear in the Workflows tab

• Verify start/end times

• Open the workflow to ensure questions display correctly

Adhoc Workflows

1. Tap the + in the Workflows tab

2. Ensure all expected adhoc workflows appear

3. Start one to confirm it loads properly

4. Submit or save as draft

This validates your workflow scheduling and permissions are set correctly.

4) Test HACCP Checks (If Applicable)

Complete one HACCP workflow on mobile:

• Probe connects correctly (if enabled)

• Temperature automatically populates

• Corrective action is required if temp is out of range

• Workflow submits without errors

This ensures your food-safety processes are fully operational.

5) Review Reporting

Navigate to Reports to confirm your data is feeding through:

• Site Report: Shows workflows, alerts, corrective actions

• HACCP Report: Displays completed and pending compliance checks

• Custom Workflow Report: Shows activity for operational workflows

• Sensors Report: Confirms historical readings and gaps

Look for:

• Accurate timestamps

• Completed workflows appearing immediately

• Alerts displaying under the correct site

• No unexpected missing data

 Final Pre-Launch Review

Before rolling out to your full team:

• All sensors reporting ✔

• Alerts configured and notifying correctly ✔

• Workflows assigned to correct sites & users ✔

• HACCP checks functioning as expected ✔

• Reports showing accurate data ✔

• Users can log in and complete tasks ✔

Your Telsen setup is now ready for daily use.
